Monster World in motion

As part of this weekend’s ongoing gamescom festivities, publisher ININ Games has released the first gameplay video of its upcoming retro remakeWonder Boy: Asha in Monster World, a ground-up recreation of Sega Genesis classicMonster World IV.

The video features slight footage of hero Asha as she fights her way through a bright fantasy world, filled with monster-chopping, platform-hopping action. Alongside a full recreation of the original adventure,Asha in Monster Worldwill include new voice-acting and a selection of all-new side-modes. Developer Artdink Games are working alongside original members of theMonster World IVdevelopment team, including director Ryuichi Nishizawa and character designer Maki Ozora

To be clear, thisisa development build ofAsha in Monster World, which isn’t scheduled to launch until early next year. While it has to be said that there are some concerns on display here – from some odd animations to a sporadic frame-rate issue – there are still several months of development left, so hopefully the title will see a little more polish between now and launch day. I am digging the enemy models and the splashes of colour and light.
