Damn, IGA, I hope this game comes out on time!

For the uninitiated, last year a team member fromBloodstainedconfirmed that they were moving forward with a staggered release model — in other words, a Shovel Knight strategy that involves putting out the game as soon as possible, then building on it with DLC. It’s worked out wonderfully for Yacht Club Games as theTreasure Troveaddition has re-ignited interest in a package that’s already making bank hand over fist, but Koji Igarashi (IGA) is a little less sure on the model forBloodstained.

Speaking to App Trigger when asked about a staggered model, IGA responded: “Right now, nothing is very set forBloodstainedyet. We are considering a staggered model for released content. We know the benefits of it; having content released separately, from time to time, also generates hype from having fans think about the game for longer. This is something that we haven’t really set yet, so it’s something we’ll have to discuss later.”

So a staggered release isn’t 100% then. In all likelihood given the numerous delays and general slow-going pace we’ll see a situation where IGA just wants the thing out of the door, but you never know. While myriad dreams have already been crushed by Kickstarter projects, this one could be the last straw for a lot of people if it goes wayward.
