After a slight delay earlier in the week, Microsoft has finally pushed the NXE preview our way, which includes access to the newly added Avatar Marketplace. Anxious to update our Avatar in the latest fashions, that’s where we headed first.

The Avatar Marketplace isn’t packed with that many goodies… yet. But some of what was there surprised us. In addition to theHalo 3andHalo 3 ODSTstore revealed at E3, we also found storefronts forFable IIand LucasArts’The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition.

While theFable IIstore was relatively bland (you can buy a simple Lionhead logo shirt, for instance), theMonkey Islandstore was a bit more interesting. It’ll be the only place you’ll be able to buy a carryable eyeball necklace (160 MS Points) for your avatar, a gigantic cotton swab (160 MS Points), or a full LeChuck Pirate suit (240 MS Points).

Two other stores are open for business right now, as well — Recessionista and Steampunk.

Admittedly, we’re not ready to blow our Microsoft space dollars on items just yet. Fortunately, you’re able to preview the items before you buy, so we were able to snap a few off-screen pictures for you to see. Check them out in the gallery, and hit the jump for the full list of items on the store, along with their pricing.

Note this is only for the males; you lady Avatars have some of your own gender-specific items to choose from. But we don’t roll that way. Today. But probably tomorrow, so check back with us then.
