I never tire of shooting giant bugs, so I was thrilled to see D3 publisher with not one, but twoEDFtitles on the Tokyo Game Show floor.Earth Defense Forces 3 Portableis port of the game we know asEarth Defense Force 2017in North America and retains all of the B-movie charm of the original, just smaller. The organization of the game’s content as individual stages plays well to the strengths of a handheld and it controls just as well as it did the first time around (maybe better).
The biggest difference over the original is in how it looks. All of the assets appear the same, but the color is so bright and vibrant on the Vita’s OLED screen that it’s a much better-looking game than the prior console releases.
I don’t own a Vita yet and and the possibility of playingEDFon one hasn’t sold me on purchasing one, but (recognizing the purchase as an eventuality) I know I will eventually pick this one up if it releases in the States.
