Plus Gex and Anachronox

At GDC Next, Square Enix gave more concrete details regarding its new game pitching-and-publishing platform calledCollective. Most notably, we now know which Eidos intellectual properties are open for developers topotentiallywork on. To start, it’s going to beGex,Fear Effect, andAnachronox, reportsGamasutra.

Through Collective, developers will pitch game ideas to Square Enix — either original titles or ones based on the aforementioned IPs — and eventually attempt to bring in funding through Indiegogo. “We’re not trying to take over crowdfunding,” said community lead Phil Elliott. “[Our goal is to] help small teams get creative ideas to market [and] help them find funding.”

Down the road, Collective may be go beyond this scope and help promote other projects like game jams or charitable events. While a modernFear Effectwould be cool, I don’t know that the same can be said ofGex. I still desperately want a newGex, that said.
