[Update:Nintendo isn’t going to let us have too much fun with these rumors! It looks like the Big Nhas issued a statementsaying that they completely deny the Nikkei report. I guess we’ll just have to wait for an official price announcement.]
E3 has barely started and already a ton of juicy rumors are flying around like, well, flying hotcakes. Andriasang is reporting thatNikkeihas uncovered a 30,000 yen price point for theWii U. If the rumor is true, this would put the Wii-U at around a $400 US launch price (approximately $383, to be exact). Of course, this is not confirmed, and the US could easily net a different pricing scheme, but considering the unit will most likely ship with a system, tablet, and wiimote, I can easily see the $400 reality.
Additionally, Nikkei is saying that there will be a number of apps for Nintendo’s latest console, ranging from car navigation, to book services, to a karaoke platform with 10,000 songs. Whether or not any of this will come to America is yet to be seen, and of course, until Nintendo confirms any of this, take this as a rumor.
Either way, with the latest confirmation on the Wii U’sTV capabilities, and theFacebook-like social network, it looks like Nintendo is finally embracing the online world with open arms.
