Well, don’t worry. Clearly observing an opportunity to cash-in on concerns, InterWorks Unlimited has made available theXbox One Privacy Shield. It’s a bit of plastic that fits over the Kinect 2 camera with a sliding switch that covers or exposes the lens, and clearly indicates which state the Shield is in with a bright orange rectangle.
I think it’s brilliant. Not the product, mind you, which is a $20 piece of plastic covering a lens. It appears to blend in well with the Kinect’s aesthetic, and that’s nice, but it’s just a piece of plastic.
No, I love that a company is preying on (justifiable) paranoia while simultaneously offering an alternative solution for any apologists of Kinect to point to as being a reason for people to just shut up about this. I hope they sell millions of the things.
