Universal decreased budgeting altered project Ken Levine has come out about theBioShockfilm, first announced in 2008 withPirates of Caribbeandirector Gore Verbinski attached, admitting to personally cancelling the film. After the poor box office reception toThe Watchmen, Universal got cold feet about funding a $200 million R-ratedBioShockadaptation. Universal gave the project two options: Ditch the R-rating or accept a budget of $80 mil. Verbinski wasn’t happy with either and soon left the project....

Landing, crashing, burning up in orbit Kerbal Space Program, a game about planning out a really complex space mission only to make an innocent astronaut drift endlessly in the dark, cold void of space, is coming to the Wii U. The trailer uploaded by Nintendo is available up above. We don’t have a release date yet, but hopefully we’ll hear more at PAX this week. We’ve also heard recently the game iscoming to Xbox One, and the PS4 launch was announced at E3....

AMafia II: Director’s Cutis on its way to retail, according toAmazon.com. The online retailer has box art for the game which touts it will include three additional story packs, along with some clothes and car add-ons. It seems like the story packs will include “Joe’s Adventures,” “Jimmy’s Vendetta,” and “The Betrayal of Jimmy.” Interestingly, “Betrayal” was originally a free PlayStation 3 exclusive as bonus content; the packaging for each game lists “3 additional story packs....

Beijing Drift? Last year’s Aaron Paul-ledNeed for Speedmovie did surprisingly well at the box office despite beingcritically panned. Like all things that make money, the property’s owners are looking to further exploit that success in pursuit of even more money. According toVariety, aNeed for Speedmovie sequel is in the works, with various Chinese partners and Electronic Arts playing important roles. The project isn’t yet greenlit, however; Dreamworks owns the rights to a sequel, and a deal would have to be negotiated to secure them....
