Mobile gaming! The Tokyo Game Show has revealed this year’s promo art meant to go with the theme of “playing games with more freedom,” hence the high flying hover board and, presumably,Puzzle & Dragonsstuffed mobile phone. And whatever offerings Konami and Sega and rapidly abandoning traditional game publishing to provide. It’s still my favorite piece of recent TGS art, second maybe to last year’s. TGS 2015 runs September 17 through 20 and hopefully Brett Makedonski and myself will be back in Japan to bring you all the hottestcarousel scoops....

UPDATE:Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has announced thatActivision Blizzard King is officially a part of Microsoft. This means that a cornucopia of big franchises, from “PitfalltoCall of Duty,World of WarcrafttoOverwatch,Candy Crush SagatoFarm Heroes Saga” now fall under the Xbox banner. It appears that Microsoft may finally have its toes over the finish line when it comes to acquiring Activision Blizzard. The process began in 2022, and Microsoft has had to navigate several obstacles since then to finalize the deal....

DLC free for GameStop pre-orders A post-launch DLC pack forDmC: Devil May Cryhas Dante’s lovable twin brother jumping in as a playable character. Capcom says that Vergil’s downfall will be available after launch for $8.99/720 MSP, and that pre-order customers at GameStop will get the content for FREE. “Shorty after launch,” they say. Launch happens on January 15. Expect new weapons, combos, and enemies with this DLC. Blades everywhere! This new trailer lets you see just how Vergil cuts stuff up....

I’d have probably caught a bus by now Just Cause 3is a huge open world game that constantly throws parachutes, wingsuits, cars and any manner of other vehicles at you in order to speed up your journey around the world. Nobody doubts it’s a pretty huge open world, but just how huge? Well, thanks to YouTuberTheyCallMeConorwe now have a pretty good idea. TheyCallMeConor, who often walks across video game maps online, reportedly took around eight hours and forty minutes to walk across the map, which is pretty damn lengthy....

This first video shows the Metal Gear Ray battle that was teased months back, and it is pretty badass. Google and Activision Blizzard worked out a ‘multi-year deal’ There’s been a lot of movement and deal-making in the video-game-streaming space lately, and it’s hard to imagine that’s going to let up anytime soon. Today, just in time for the Call of Duty League season kick-off, Activision Blizzard announced that YouTube – not Twitch – will now be its “exclusive streaming partner” for esports includingOverwatch,Call of Duty,Hearthstone, “and more.” In other words, if you follow any of these leagues live or on-demand, you’ll now need to turn to YouTube – and not just in 2020....

As if it were profane [Update:EA Sports hasissued a statementsaying that it erred in censoring Colin Kaepernick’s mention from “Big Banks.” According to the developer, it didn’t have permission to use Kaepernick’s likeness in the game (apparently because he’sno longer a memberof the NFL Players Association) and EA Sports mistakenly thought it wasn’t allowed to use his name in a song either. Kaepernick’s name will be edited back into “Big Banks” in an August 6 patch that will arrive beforeMadden 19launches on consoles....
