Oh, and Bartz too Final Fantasy IVis still my favorite entry in the series. Having replayed it every few years or so I wouldn’t say nostalgia fuels that claim, as it still has a fantastic soundtrack and an amazing cast — “Spoony Bard” and all. That’s partially why I’m excited to play as Cecil in the upcomingDissidia Final Fantasyarcade game (if it ever gets ported to the PS4). Is this mainstream or hipster? I can’t decide! When I wrote about anon-hipster walking simulator for Cliffy Bjust before PAX, I had no idea there was already a game that was basically that, only it’s 2D and features colorful animals. Night in the Woodsis a colorful adventure game about a 20-year-old cat named Mae that just moved to her parents’ place after dropping out of college. Mae hopes to reconnect with her old friends and the city she left behind, but quickly finds that nothing stays the same, even after only a couple of short years....

Some actually look like good numbers It doesn’t seem too long ago that Nintendo were struggling. With the slow sales of the Wii U that hit profits back in 2013 and the dwinding 3DS user base in 2014, It looked like the little (pfffft) company that could unfortunately just couldn’t. But the newest North American sales statistics released by Nintendo suggest they may be on the rise again. And that’s ignoring sales of those bloody amiibo....

Omocat’s 2020 role-playing gameOmoriis making the leap to the page with the announcement that a manga adaptation is in the works. The reveal came from the game’s official Twitter account, which shared an illustration by Nui Konoito, who will be handling the art. According to the tweet, theOmorimanga will be serialized in Kodansha’sMonthly Afternoon, a seinen magazine that currently runs series likeLand of the Lustrous,Heavenly Delusion, andVinland Saga. It adds that “the manga will be made for both longtime fans of the game and for a new audience experiencing the story for the first time....

Sony has now launched an initiative they’re calling the “PlayStation Logo Licensing Program.” This means that you’ll start seeing the PlayStation logo slapped across all manner of what the company is referring to as “lifestyle products.” That could (and does) mean practicallyanythingcould qualify. Imagine a world where you can drink coffee out of your branded mug while wearing a branded T-shirt and branded shorts, standing on your branded floor mat in the middle of your kitchen (which probably has a PlayStation-branded toaster in it)....

Just in case you were wondering how it’s doing The userbase forPokemon Godropped off dramatically, but the hardcore whales that are still funding it are dropping bags of money into Niantic’s lap. According to app tracker Apptopia, it’s generated $1.2 billion in revenue in the roughly one year it’s been out. For reference, that’s a little more money thanFinding Dory($1.029 billion) made worldwide last year in theaters. 752 million users have also downloaded the app....

Going deeper underground Metro Exodus, the third game in the creepy, atmosphericMetroseries, has unfortunately been pushed back to 2019. The announcement came from a press release by publisher THQ Nordic. Originally announced last year, (and rumoured long before that),Metro Exodus,developed by 4A Games, will bring the series penchant for grim, claustrophobic locations and grotesque post-apocalyptic creatures screaming to the current generation of platforms. Although it was expected to launch sometime this year, the delay will see the game pushed into 2019....

You’ll have to forgive the lateness of this preview. I was bed-ridden for damn near four days after E3 on account of nerd-flu. Still, if you’ll stick around for a little bit, I’d like to tell you about one of my favorite games of the show.Dust: An Elysian Tailis an action role-playing platformer coming to Xbox Live Arcade later this summer. That’s a lot of words to describe something very simple: amaaaaaazing....

Essentially, it’s Shadowrun, but set in space. I’m perfectly fine with that Juggernaut Games’ Kickstarter-funded sci-fi dungeon crawlerStarCrawlerswent into Early Access on Steam just a couple of weeks ago and seems to be doing quite well for itself based on the positive Steam reviews posted so far. Even in this unfinished state, the game feels respectably polished and, for the most part, free from any serious bugs that might get in the way of its fantastic dungeon crawling gameplay....

Has my hype train derailed? Sunset Overdrivewas one of the most exciting announcements to come out of E3 2013, and since then, I’ve had numerous people say it looks like a game made just for me. For whatever reason, I didn’t get a chance to check it out at E3 or PAX, and a couple weeks ago, I was giddy to finally sit down and check it out. I played through the first hour or so, and while it seems like a pretty solid game, I came away feeling totally uninterested....

20XX, Barony, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP It’s one thing to pile up a PC gaming backlog with a new game or two every week, but three at once? And with no end in sight? I’m curious to see what the Epic Games Store will look like in five years. For the time being, if you’re in the habit of claiming these free games, let’s keep on rolling.
