Waiting in line, passing the time Although the magic of online play and the near eradication of split-screen has informed my multiplayer gaming habits, there once was a time where, outside of PC LAN parties and dial-up, local play was the only option. Some of my fondest memories involve loading up a car with some friends, heading to a convention together, and passing around a massive group session ofAdvance Warswhile waiting in line....

The game drew inspiration from theDevil May Cryseries’ Bloody Palace mode, pitting players against waves of enemies, massive bosses, and time. It was well-crafted but also very austere, featuring very little outside of a solid arcade experience. A year later, Souvenir Circ. and Nyu Media have returned withCroixleur Sigma, a new and improved version now available via Steam and other digital retailers....

Not long ago, Atlus brought usOdin Sphere, a strikingly beautiful game that reminded us that the PS2 isn’t something we should push to the side, now that we’re in the world of cell processors and HDMI cables. Now they’ve brought yet another reason to keep the ol’ system handy —Persona 3, a part of theShin Megami Tenseifranchise. I had never touched neither thePersonaseries nor theShin Megami Tenseiline before, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this game....

Diablo III‘s real money auction housewent live last night, and people are already proving that they have more money than sense. Within hours of it opening up, folks are gleefully pumping more of their own hard earned cash in to the system, and those with the rare goods are seeing how far they can push it. Single items are currently available for prices as exorbitant as $200, as players feel out the landscape and attempt to get what they can out of it....

Adam West Batman x espionage x sentient martinis x Airplane! Remember forever ago whenI previewedtrippy cyberpunk comedy spy thrillerJazzpunk? Let me just quote myself: “Jazzpunkis hilarious. I laughed, out loud and on the regular, while playing. It’s goofy, it’s surreal, it’s incisive and impeccably timed. There’s also a segment that features the most puns per minute I’ve ever encountered and I was left with the most reverent silence after stifling my snickering....

Tick-tock! Tick-tock! The muddy-funsters of Good Smile Co. have unveiled the next cutesy Nendoroid toy in theirrapidly-expandingOverwatchrange. This time around it’s non-other than the deviant from Down Under, Junkrat! I’ve always been amused by Junkrat in regards to his depiction by Blizzard. The guy is often used as goofy comic relief, but he’s also pretty much a cut-throat murderer, who’d blow up your mum for three bucks. I guess in that sense Jamison Fawkes isOverwatch’sequivalent to the Green Goblin or The Joker; the charisma of a wacky doofus but, at heart, an incredibly dangerous individual....

I realize that my criticism of EA’s business practices may come across as overzealous at times, but even the most dedicated of the publisher’s defenders can’t possibly stick up for this video — perhaps the greatest crime Electronic Arts has ever committed. As spotted byVG247, some Christmas carolers sing “Jingle Bells” but with the lyrics hilaaaaaariously replaced by gamer slang. Slang that is used with no context and hasn’t even been vaguely retooled to sound like it could be Christmassy....

Hot off the heels of ourworld exclusive E3 trailer, we have very kindly been granted permission to reveal the first piece of background story forEdge of Twilight, a first-person account of an incident within the game’s world known as “The Rift at Sélann.” It was the story for this game that first drew me to the project. This steampunk adventure game tells a tale of two opposing factions, the industrial Athyrn and the spiritual, mostly undead Lithern, neither of which are supposed to be truly good or truly evil....

I lovedLittle King’s Storyon the Wii, if only for the fact that it abandoned useless waggle in favor of a streamlined, simple control system. It seems as if a lot of other people did too, but that raw excitement isn’t enough to warrant a Wii sequel, as the next title is slated exclusively for the Playstation Vita. Up until now, we had no real idea of why this was the case, but producer Takanori Murayama shed some light on the subject in aQ&A with Game Informeryesterday....

Pitchford claims there are ‘stakeholders’ to think of first After breaking his radio silence this morning torespond to lots of praiseforAliens: Colonial Marines, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford went on a bit of a blocking spree, cold-shouldering yours truly and a number of other people he claims offer nothing but “injury” in their criticism. In a number of Tweets, Pitchford addressed a few questions on the game, and went so far as to confirm his studio is examining the possibility of maybe explaining exactly what went wrong withAliens, and why the game looked nothing like the advertised product....

A real bucket-list game I’d be wary of a stranger offering free guac, but freeGuacamelee? Now we’re talking. DrinkBox’s luchador-infused metroidvania deserves to be played, and you deserve to spoil yourself sometimes. I’m not surewhat other wordswe could say to convince holdouts to tryGuacamelee, so I’ll leave you to your decision. I rank the game up there withHollow Knightas one of the most original takes on the metroidvania genre. The fact that there’s up-to-four-player co-op cements it even further....

It’s out “this fall” ADisney Dreamlight ValleyToy Story update is on the way, and now we have a full-length trailer to see what that actually entails. Like most character-based things inDreamlight, it’ll feature new quests (with Woody and Buzz), as well as an additional space to roam around in, and new items. Based on the trailer you’ll enter the new space similar to the other lands in the game (likeMoana): through a special door in the castle....
