Corporations want free money now If a known developer is using Kickstarter to fund its next game, be careful — the money might end up getting used to ostensiblygivea major publisher a new game for free. Obsidian CEOFeargus Urquhart has revealed that publishers tried to use his company for that very purpose. “We were actually contacted by some publishers over the last few months that wanted to use us to do a Kickstarter,” herevealed on his team’s own KS page....

Yep, it looks like that Lobo/Batgirl/Zod/Scorpionleakis pretty much spot-on, as Scorpion is now officially confirmed through the above video from NetherRealm Studios forInjustice: Gods Among Us. If you want him, he’s $4.99 separately or part of the $14.99 Season Pass. I have to say, although I’m generally a Scorpion fan, he doesn’t feel quite right for this universe, and looks a bit out of place — hopefully, he’ll be fun to play....

Japan is still trying to conserve energy after the earthquakes and tsunami last month. Some parts of the country are still being struck with power outages, even a month later. It’s going to be much more difficult to conserve electricity this summer as things heat up. No one does hot and muggy like Japan. Sony is looking to do their part by shutting down some of their offices this summer to conserve energy....

I’d prefer a new game, but these are fine too TheseTaiko Drum Master(Taiko no Tatsujin) pouches are extremely cute, but there’s got to be a limit to the amount of cases, pouches, sleeves, and portfolios I need for my 3DS XL. I think I might make an exception for these adorable specimens, however. They’re headed for an August release in Japan and will retail for 1706 yen apiece. No preorder information just yet, but Play-Asia will likely stock them in the month to come....

Today Deep Silver announced that the company will be working with Square Enix to distribute Techland’sDead Islandout to retailers in North and South America. Deep Silver is still publishing, Square Enix is just getting the game out to store shelves. I asked Aubrey Norris, PR Czar at Deep Silver, why Square Enix is handling the distribution and it’s due to Deep Silver not being large enough to work directly with retailers yet....

There’s still plenty of bugs to be ironed out As gamers seem to be more and more willing to play games in an unfinished state, it feels surprising to me when a developer decides to delay an update because of bugs. Of course unfinished games are buggy — we expect that — but at least Chris Roberts has explained the delay in adding the Arena Commander mode toStar Citizen. Apparently there’s still some pesky bugs that really need fixed before the update is playable for all....

Last month, Falcom’sThe Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IIIandIVwere announcedfor PlayStation 5. Now the pair of RPGs are locked in for July 24, 2025. NIS America confirmed a launch date for the pair alongside a new gameplay trailer. After showing off some of the characters, the video quickly dives into the updated Erebonia experience. Rean Schwarzer and the Class VII: Special Operations squad then show off their skills with some flashy moves and Link Attacks....

It’s coming to the PS4 TowerFallcreator Matt Thorson has more plans in store for his new franchise — a full-on expansion in 2015. Arriving on the PS4, it’ll come with new characters, levels, power-ups, and modes. Thorson notes that he isn’t calling it “DLC” because it’s much more than an incremental addition. The new add-ons will fundamentally change the game, including a new tower called Cataclysm that’s procedurally generated. TowerFallis one of my favorite games of the year on PS4, so I’m pretty excited for this....
