I’m going to lose so much time to The Settlers

The strategy builder is now aiming for 2020 on PC Ubisoft is bringing backThe Settlersin 2020, and this week at gamescom, the village-raising strategy title came into greater focus. It’s wild to think that the long-running series is alive and well on Snowdrop, the same engine used for games likeThe Division 2andStarlink: Battle for Atlas. Also wild: the original creator, Volker Wertich, is back on board for the 2020 game....

Mega Man turns 30 this week, and finally has a lot to celebrate

The first real entry since 2010 For years we’ve been wondering ifMega Manwould ever come back. Some people thought it was only a matter of time, and others saw the endless loop of compliations and merchandise paraded around while Capcom further placed an emphasis on remakes and remasters. Now that could still be the case ifMega Man 11doesn’t take off, but given that this has been seven years in the making I don’t see the Blue Bomber’s return crashing and burning out of the gate....

My most anticipated narrative games announced at The Game Awards

Let’s round up all the narrative games that caught my eye It’s no secret narrative games are my all-time favorites. I went into this year’sGame Awardsnot expecting much, but little did I know I’d be punched in the face over and over again with some incredible game trailers. There are a ton of great games to look forward to over the next couple of years (many of which are not on this list), but I had to take the time to highlight some of the games that have me amped....

New Pokemon Crabrawler is an incredulous rock lobster

Four new Pocket Monsters revealed My first thought reading the name “Crabrawler”:the balls on the localization team with that one, innit?I was so impressed I turned British, despite being the red-bloodiest American on staff. It’s a crab and it’s a brawler. It’s a crabrawler! Then I saw the dang thing and wow, step aside Krabby, Kingler, Corphish, and Crawdaunt because there’s a new crustacean king in thePokemonuniverse, for the following reasons:...

Everyone knows by now thatNvidia is knee-deep in the active development and leveraging of AI technologies wherever and however possible, but it’s been unclear what the company’s next major gaming step might be. Now, however, it seems that Nvidia Project G-Assist is its next push onwards. PAX: Ms. Splosion Man runs at 60fps on the iPad

It works surprisingly well too, for a precision platformer Today I had a chance to meet up with Twisted Pixel developer Mike Wilford, and talk a bit about the new iOS port ofMs. Splosion Man, including some hands-on time with the game. Mike started by stating that on current iPads, the port will run at a solid 60fps, which I was able to see first-hand (the iPhone 5 version will run a little slower, on par with 45-50 fps, I was told)....

Playing Gears Tactics will get you a bonus in Gears 5

Strategic crossover Gearsfans should playGears Tactics. It’s not an essential part of the lore and it’s not the classicGearsformula, but there’s a lot of familiarity inGearsthat translates well to turn-based strategy. I know I’m going to be lobbying for its inclusion in some Game of the Year discussions. As if being a totally quality game weren’t reason enough, here’s another carrot on a stick:Gears Tacticsprotagonist Gabe Diaz will be a playable character inGears 5multiplayer....
