The AI strikes back Platinum Games is back for round two of their DLC offerings forMetal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as Blade Wolf is set for a May 9th release in Japan, with an inevitable international date to follow soon. An international price point hasn’t been officially announced yet, but it seems as if this will cost $10 — the same as the first DLC. It’s hard to tell from the screenshots, but it seems as if the DLC will deal with the same Blade Wolf model as the core game, in a flashback of sorts that deals with his time with the evil Desperado regime....

It’s not every day you get to use “Valve” and “fast” in the same sentence, but I’m inclined to do so given thequick transitionfrom closed beta to full release for the new mobile Steam app. It’s afree downloadfor Android and iOS, so you might as well. The app allows you to chat with Steam friends, view game listings, see what’s on sale, and more. Having access to Steam on a device so close to your wallet is scary to think about....

If you’re keeping score, here’s the latest stats: Sony has now sold 56 million units worldwide. That’s a lot, but it’s not quite at Microsoft’s 57.3 million. Close, though! If you consider that the PS3 launched a year after the Xbox 360, and even later in Europe, it’s pretty close to even in my mind. The PS3 is still going strong, though I don’t know if they’ll ever overcome the Xbox 360 for lifetime worldwide sales....

Remember when EA killed this franchise along with Pandemic? Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen stated during a investor call today that they expect to releaseStar Wars: Battlefront“alongside the newStar Warsfilms, probably in summer 2015.” Not much, but at least we have a good idea of how long the wait will be now. Remember, EA DICEis behind this, so we can expect good things from it. Hopefully it will have its own identity to separate itself from theBattlefieldseries, but then again it’s not such a bad thing if it goes the other way....

It’s possible Ah,Battleborn. It’s one of those games that isn’t as bad as you hear, but still managed to come in below the monumental expectations it set. Take-Two seemingly agrees from a financial perspective, stating that it performed “below expectations,” despite “solid reviews.” The publisher notes that there is still “an opportunity to grow the audience over time though,” which sounds suspiciously like a shift into the free-to-playEvolve 2.0system. I mean, the core game mode is based around MOBAs, it wouldn’t be hard to grant early adopters access to every current character, and make everyone else free-to-play....
