If there’s a dub, I hope Willem Dafoe voices Ryuk in Jump Force

In other news, the duo of Light and Ryuk are not playable Look, I don’t think we have to talk about the live action 2017Death Notemovie at length. But some people probably want to at least have a chat about Willem Dafoe, who did an excellent job with the menacing meddler Ryuk. Dafoe, as you know, is pretty much up for anything, so I can totally see him doing a video game if there ended up being a dub forJump Force— the newest anime crossover fighter that was revealed at E3....

Interview: Insomniac on how Overstrike became Fuse

The biggest question onmy mind while playingFusewas “why the change?”Overstrikehad the potential to be something wacky, as a game that wouldn’t take itself seriously. At least that’s what I interpreted from the trailer.Fusehas a shot at being great, but it’s going to have to do a lot to help differentiate itself from the somewhat realistic approach you see in most shooters. Brian Allgeier, creative director at Insomniac Games, told me that the game was originally going to be “a more spy themed-inspired game” when it was stillOverstrike....

Nearly two years later, Peter Molyneux still hasn’t delivered for the Curiosity winner

Because he’s such a trustworthy person At this point most hardcore gamers know not to trust Peter Molyneux. He makes grand promises that his games will push the envelope or change your life in some way, and in a few cases, outright lies. Then he has the balls to retroactively state that you shouldn’t have bought his last game, and that his next game will be amazing. We know the song and dance he performs and the brand of snake-oil he peddles....

Nintendo Switch eShop is running a Game Awards sale and other assorted deals

The prices are steeper than we’d like, but you might find something to latch onto While we hope for something, anything big out of Nintendo at tonight’s Game Awards 2021, there’s a decent chunk of Switch games on sale to celebrate. The deals cover winners and nominees, and they’re set to last until 11:59 p.m. Pacific on December 15. At first glance, the prices are pretty underwhelming, and I’d say that goes for second glances, too....

Not quite E3 09: Witcher 1.5 enchanced edition announced

NYCC: Puppeteer looks amazing in 3D

I got a fair bit ofhands-on time withPuppeteerat New York Comic-Con this weekend, but the best of what I’ve seen of the game so far was still hands off. And in 3D. Sony was kind enough to give us a peek at a boss fight from later in the game. This third-level boss, Tiger, is a multi-tiered affair that puts Kutaro’s jumping/cutting mechanic to good use. Kutaro’s eventual goal was to cut Tiger’s tooth out, and part of his attack had him chipping away at the tooth’s exposed nerves with scissors....

Review in Progress: Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

Trial by fire Having playedFinal Fantasy XIVsince the very first 1.0 E3 demo nearly a decade ago, it would take me ages to describe how much it’s evolved. I’ve seen it go from a tepid little thing that was somehow a step down fromXIin every way to a monstrous project that become one of my favorite MMOs of all time. It’s still amazing that director Yoshi-P and his crew were able to turn this franchise around, and that Square Enix footed the bill — it will go down as one of the biggest Cinderella stories in gaming....
