There’s some new pricing for Nintendo’s older handhelds. Starting May 20, the DSi XL will retail for $129.99, and it’s smaller screened little brother, the standard DSi, will go for $99.99. Both will still be packed withFlipnote Studio, and the XL will still come with pre-installed copies of the twoBrain Agegames. This drop falls right in line with Nintendo’s moves in recent years. They slowly back down the price of the older system to bring a more attractive price point that seems to be aimed right at younger gamers....

Quantum Break sure has changed over the last four years

Before it got Shawn Ashmore’d I haven’t been followingQuantum Breaktoo closely, even though I loveMax PayneandAlan Wake. What I’ve seen so far has felt a bit generic, lifeless, and grey, so I’m hoping that Remedy’s traditional bizarre touch is hiding under the thick film of Microsoft’s marketing. That marketing has certainly changed over the last few years, as you’re about to see. DualShockers attended a lecture in Paris at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie (those are exactly the words I would type if I was trying to bullshit that place’s name in French) where Creative Director Sam Lake presented this video consisting mostly of 2012 footage ofQuantum Break....

Rumortoid: Chrono Trigger’s new dungeon, possible game sequel

We already know that the upcomingDS version ofChrono Triggeris getting a new dungeon or two, but we didn’t put some of the pieces together as fast asSiliconeradid. We’ve known about the lost level,Singing Mountain, for some time now. It was a outdoor waterfall dungeon from the 65,000,000 B.C. which was cut before the game’s release. The name “Singing Mountian” may look familiar to game music nerds, as the geekiest of them will know it as one of composer Yasunori Mitsuda’s “lost tracks” for theChrono Triggersoundtrack....

Shogun 2: Total War gets outed, old dude does calligraphy

How do you promote a game about ancient Japan? One that’s historically accurate, all gross and realistic? Plus, it’s a turn-based strategy game! Furthermore, how does one market it to a crowd that might not care a whit for Japan’s warring states period? Without the over-the-top hilarity ofSengoku Basaraor theYojimboquirk ofWay of the Samuraito angle on, he only way left is to go all “zen”, and that’s apparently Sega’s approach with the newest teaser forShogun 2: Total War....

Some Switch games won’t force motion controls, including Arms

As stated on the Treehouse stream One of the things I loved about the Wii U is how much Nintendo backpedaled on motion. Sure some games had it as an option to aim with the GamePad’s gyroscope, but compare say,Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze‘s smooth button-based rolling as opposed to the Wii’s forced waggle rolling. It was a great change of pace, and the Switch will keep those good times coming with more optional control schemes....
