Former president leaves advisory role
Back in DecemberMike Capps, former president of Epic Games, announced he was retiring from the company to focus largely on his family and upcoming baby. Mike was going to stick around in an advisory role, but tonight he announced that he has completely left the company.
“When we announced that I wanted to transition out of my leadership role at Epic, the plan was for a continued but less active role, service on the board of directors, and ideally, being that eccentric semi-retired guy who still comes to playtests and gold parties,” Mike stated in aFacebook posting. “I’m sad to say that plans have changed, and as of February 11th, I’m no longer affiliated with Epic Games.”
As for Mike’s future in the gaming industry, he will continue his role on several game industry boards, and is considering seats on a few company and more advisory boards. Additionally, he’s thinking of teaching at one of the universities in North Carolina Triangle area.
But most of all, Mike is “focused on being a new dad in a few short weeks.”
