The classic Amiga games might get a sequel almost 30 years later
The originalChaosis probably older than a lot of you reading this post; released back in 1985, it was a turn-based tactics game that had rival wizards facing off in an arena, originally released for the ZX Spectrum. Now, designer Julian Gollop is turning toKickstarter to fund a sequelcalledChaos Reborn, that will hopefully be out in 2015, 30 years after the original. Gollop was behind the originalX-COM: UFO Defense, so this is a guy who knows his strategy chops.
Gollop was recently at Ubisoft Sofia in Bulgaria but has now recruited a small team to makeChaos Rebornafter already working on it for the last 12 months. The Kickstarter goal is $180,000 and the team has already raised $30,000. Gollop’s name carries a fair amount of weight when you’re talking old school computer strategy titles, so it’s no surprise to me to see Ken Levine in the pitch video singing Julian’s praises. One wonders if endorsements like this will be enough to raise the other $150,000 needed to greenlight the project.
