We’re used to seeing real-life crops available to grow in farming sims, andStardew Valleyis certainly no different. One of the lesser known crops available inStardewis Amaranth, an edible weed which thrives in hot, dry climates.

How to grow Amaranth in Stardew Valley
Amaranth Seeds can be purchased in the following locations during Fall:
They can also be purchased out of season at both the Traveling Cart (for between 105 – 1,000 Gold) and theNight Market(for 70 Gold).
Amaranth takes seven days to grow and can only be harvested once. If you solely want to plant and harvest Amaranth during a Fall season, you will get three harvests of the crop. If you use Speed-gro Fertilizers or have the Agriculturalistprofessionactive, it’s possible to get up to nine harvests of Amaranth within a single Fall season.
How to use Amaranth in Stardew Valley
Amaranth on its own sells for 150 Gold at a basic level, increasing to 330 Gold per plant sold if you have the Tiller profession active. When used to make Pickles or Juice, the selling price is between 337 Gold and 490 Gold, depending on the quality of the Amaranth used.

Bundles
If you’re playing with Remixed Bundles at the community center, you have the option to hand in Amaranth as a part of the Dye Bundle on the Bulletin Board.
Quests
On Fall 3, Marnie will send a letter in the mail requesting some Amaranth. To complete this quest, you’ll need to bring one bunch of Amaranth to Marnie to get 500 Gold and 1 friendship heart with Marnie.
Tailoring
Amaranth can be used in the spool of a Sewing Machine to create a dyeable Crop Top Shirt, and will also create a Pale Violet Red dye when used in the spool along with a dyeable item. When used in the Dye Pots at Emily and Haley’s house, it will result in a Purple Dye.
