Last Sunday on Sup, Holmes(full podcast version available now!), two men drank boxed wine and talked to me about making videogames. Those two men were Dennis Wedin and Jonatan Soderstrom ofDennaton Games, the creators ofKeyboard Drumset F*cking WerewolfandHotline Miami. As the night went on and the alcohol began to flow, I witnessed some nocturnal admissions that still delight me to this day.

Probably the biggest admission was that Dennaton’s got a few new concepts for their next project, and that one of them is a 2D action platformer. Their plans are far from final, but Dennis has already started on the artwork, which was exciting news in and of itself. It sounds like Jonatan is really focused on making sure the game isn’t gimmicky (like so many other indie-budgeted platformers) but is still unique from a design perspective. IfHotline Miamiis an example of what these guys do with an arcade-style action/maze game as a skeleton, I can’t wait to see what they do withContraas a template.
