Once upon a timeGran Turismowas a force to be reckoned with. I’d argue it’s still relevant, but in the ’90s and early 2000s a newGran Turismowas coming out every few years, until the series kind of stopped in 2013 withGT6. Now it’s poised to make a return withSport, which is due in October.
One point of contention withGT6however was its microtransactions. Slowly but surely the practice wormed its way into several racing series likeForza, and withGT6Sony succumbed as well. That’s all changing withSportthough, as series creator Kazunori Yamauchi noted thatSportwon’t contain microtransactions.
This is probably a late in the game decision from Sony, knowing that their install base should see them through. Plus this doesn’t preclude DLC of any kind of course.
