If you needed any reminder that 2013 could well be the Year of the Mech, then this reveal trailer forHeavy Gear Assaultshould be another strong reminder that mechs are truly back. Developed by MekTekStudios and published by Stompy Robot,Heavy Gear Assaultwill be a gladiatorial combat title with the forcus on “over-the-top combat.”
Whilst originally a tabletop title,Heavy Geargames came out on the PC back in the late ’90s before falling out of fashion like other mech titles. With a renewed interest in the genre, I can see people wanting another type of mech game that plays differently fromMechWarrior OnlineandHawken.Heavy Gear Assaulthas a crowdfunding model seperate from Kickstarter, so it will be interesting to see if the game generates support.
