Go to Hell … Again
Universal Pictures is looking to bringDante’s Infernoto a theater near you. The movie studio is reportedly in talks with Fede Alvarez, the director behind the recentEvil Deadremake, to adapt Electronic Arts’ action title for the silver screen.
An animated version of the story entitledDante’s Inferno: An Animated Epicreleased alongside the game in February 2010, which might give viewers some insight into a potential bearing for the live action film.
As someone who enjoyed Visceral Games’ interpretation of the 14th century epic poem, I’m cautiously optimistic. However, something tells me the vocal contingent of detractors that saw the title as gross perversion of Dante Alighieri’s work won’t share in my excitement, even if movies are “art.”
