Publisher does a good turn for gay rights

Electronic Arts has thrown its lot in with theHuman Rights Campaign, a coalition of business allied to help repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.

The act, for those not in the know, is bigotry dressed in the coward’s garb of traditionalism, seeking as it does to stifle the legality of same-sex marriage for noactualgood reason.

The publisher joins the ranks of such companies as eBay, Thomas Reuters, and Marriot, as well as many other Fortune 500 companies that are championing their own counter to DOMA, the Respect for Marriage Act.

Electronic Arts has been a long-standing supporter of gay rights, originally taking astand against DOMAin 2012 and proudlydefending its decisionto allow for same-sex relationships in its games. While EA, as a publisher, often finds itself on the bad side of vocal gamers like myself, it at least has always been one of the industry’s leaders when it comes to not being a prick to gay people.
