Two bucks for The Mercenaries 3D, you say?
Now that we have a timeline on when Nintendo plans tophase out the 3DS eShop, fans will want to keep tabs on any sales that pop up, especially for a publisher like Capcom.

I never thought I’d say this, but the standout on this list for me — and maybe Chris too — isResident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Two bucks is impulse-buy territory. And what are the odds we’re ever going to seethis game(or anything like it) on a modern platform? I likedResident Evil Village‘s take on Mercenaries enough to get the high scores needed for the trophy, but it’s just not as enjoyable as the still-fun standard found inResident Evil 4and5.
Naturally, some of you will be eying theseAce Attorney3DS titles if you’ve got any gaps in the series, and even though it can be tough to go back to olderMonster Hunterentries afterMonster HunterWorldandRise, these deals are probably as good as we’ll get.
As a refresher, the 3DS eShop discontinuation isa multi-step processleading up to March 2023. Depending on your payment method, your willingness to shop via browser, and if you have your Nintendo Network ID linked up, there’s still time. One date to keep in mind is May 23 — that’s when “it will no longer be possible to use a credit card to add funds to an account in Nintendo eShop on Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.”
There are a few caveats/workarounds, but in general, our options for purchasing digital games on the 3DS eShop will start to diminish over the coming months.
If there’s a way to snatch up some can’t-miss games before it’s too late — without totally breaking the bank — then I say go for it. I went through this process on PSP, Vita, and PS3 already when thestore-closure threat felt imminent. I made poor choices, admittedly. I bought some shit I truly didn’t need. But the deed is done, and I had fun casually playing through some classics and digital-only releases (even if I’ll never finish them).
