If you may’t wake up in the morning without a steaming mug ofboomer shooters, a new one is comin’ in hot.GRAVELORDis set to kick off its Early Access period of “unfiltered, hardcore carnage” on January 22.

Developer Fatbot Games has a nice little chunk of content lined up for Early Access. A full episode with eight levels will be available, along with a replayable bonus level. There are also plans for an integrated level editor, but it sounds like we’ll have to wait for the full release to try out our own designs.

For a quickfire taste ofQuake-style action with a side of mouthy protagonist, check out the short but action-packed release date trailer below.

Fatbot is going all in on the boomer shooter distinction (and the “let’s put the fun back in funeral” tagline).GRAVELORDlooks appropriately fast-paced, with secret-filled levels giving players something to chew on when they aren’t blowing enemies away in rapid succession.

On top of the traditional FPS gameplay,GRAVELORDhas collectible Tarot Cards that can boost combat options and power, as well as upgradeable weapons with varying modes of fire. I’m less enthused about the “badass protagonist,” Queedo the Gravedigger. Queedo is billed as being “dumb as hell but strong as an ox,” which is a great asset to have in a game like this. He also “has opinions” and comments on what’s happening on-screen with his Cockney accent. Let’s hope it ends up being funny without the need for any pejorative air quotes.

If you can’t wait until later this month, you can see more of whatGRAVELORDis all about in the demo that’slive now on Steam.
