Another physical sales drop for major franchise
Despite the strong critical and fan feedback for Ubisoft’s Greek swashbucklerAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Microsoft racerForza Horizon 4, neither title were able to knock EA’sFIFA 19from the top spot of the UK Charts.
In factOdyssey, which some are calling one of, if not the best,Assassin’s Creedtitle to date, suffered a 25% drop in physical sales on last year’sOriginsaccording to data gathered bygamesindustry.biz.This has been a common trend across 2018, with bothFIFA19 andShadow of the Tomb Raideralso suffering drops in physical sales over previous entries. The move to digital is seemingly increasing its stranglehold on gaming’s high street.

Elsewhere in the charts,Marvel’s Spider-Manstill holds fast at number four, followed up by Nintendo’s debutingSuper Mario Partyat five. Namco’sTekken 7and Project CARS 2 both made an amazing return to the Top Ten, no doubt pushed by in-store promotions. Team Yakuza’sFist of the North Star: Lost Paradiseunfortunately made a lackluster start, launching at number 21.
