The Diffusion Group, a research and development firm, has predicted that around 190 million households will have an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or a Wii by 2012. Also, 2012 is the same year humans will enjoy the flying car, automatic toaster (with bread grabber), andThe Beatleson iTunes. The Diffusion Group didn’t predict any of the former things, but my ESP is actually working today. In addition to a massive amount of homes having consoles, they are also predicting that 80 percent of them will have the Internet.

The Diffusion Group’s co-writer toldGamasutrathat “[today’s] males between the ages of 18 and 35” are “heavy viewers of online video and quite comfortable spending money for online digital media.” He did not add that, in 2012, males would have information plugs in the backs of their heads to make learning karate orMega Manlevels easier.

I really can’t refute the results of the firm’s research and prediction, but I wonder if many of those consoles in 2012 will actually get used on a regular basis. My mother has a Wii but it just kind of sits on the shelf, lifelessly. Its drive wants to spin the latestCSIorMario Party, but she refuses.
