Arctic Strike DLC launches today for Future Soldier

Well, here’s the first in what I can only assume will be a long series of DLC forGhost Recon: Future Soldier. The “Arctic Strike” pack is out today and includes three new multiplayer maps, a new Guerrilla co-op level, the “Stockade” multiplayer mode, six new weapons, added achievements, and a raise in the level cap of ten. The name “Arctic Strike” is sort of misleading here, because you’d assume most (or all) of these levels would havesomethingto do with snow....

Avalanche founder on trade-ins: Games are too short

There are multiple good reasons for trading in a game once you have had enough, but in the eyes ofAvalanche Studiosfounder Christofer Sundberg, length is the determining factor — titles “have been too short,” he toldEdge. “I mean when you can play a game through from 8 to 10 hours, I would return the game too, because there’s no reason for players to play it again. “If you’re offering little variation, then there’s no motivation for the player to keep that game –unless they want to have a nice bookshelf,” Sundberg explained....

Blacklight: Retribution is shutting down next month

In-game store unlocked until closure Back when free-to-play games were a hip, new thing and most gamers didn’t really trust them, developer Hardsuit Labs releasedBlacklight: Retributionand changed everyone’s tone. This was a fully featured shooter with gameplay similar toCall of Dutythat was available for free with very limited microtransactions. It was good, honest fun and didn’t have a trace of pay-to-win scheming in sight. Sadly, all good things must come to an end....

Console gamers are more excited for VR than PC gamers

Other than the PlayStation VR, virtual reality is almost entirely confined to the realms of PC gaming. For example, the Vive and Rift require a beefy rig, while and the Sulon Q straps a PC to the back of your head. So it may be surprising to hear that PC gamers just aren’t as excited for VR as their console playing counterparts. This was found in a study run by market research companyIpsosforGamesIndustry....

Dang, I should’ve been following Shiness this whole time!

The long-in-development action-RPG is out this year Do you know aboutShiness: The Lightning Kingdom? I didn’t know a thing about it — not until a couple of weeks ago, at E3 2016, where I was given a rapid-fire rundown. Schedule changes and general last-day-of-the-expo busyness meant I had little time allotted for what turned out to be a very ambitious, very intricate game. Rather than fumble my way through the demo build, I got a high-level tour from the game’s producer/composer....

Double Dragon: Neon now available on Steam

Get ready to ROOOOOOOOCK! The zaniest adventure of Billy and Jimmy Lee is available for PC players today, asDouble Dragon: Neonarriveson Steam. You may now purchase it for the perfectly reasonable sum of $9.99. Setting aside all of the awesome music, goofy plot line, and absurd villains, it’s still my favoriteDouble Dragongame. EA titles fail at reviews, EA boss unhappy

Rik Mayall lookalike and CEO of Electronic Arts John Riccitiello hasexpressed his concernsover EA’s flagging review scores. While many gamers might not take scores seriously, EA keeps tabs on them, and it’s noted a near 5% drop in the numbers from last year. Riccitiello finds the drop from a 75% average to a 72% average most unsatisfactory and has promised to do something about it. “There is nothing acceptable about that,” stated the EA chief, possibly while strapping a hunting knife to his leg and punching the air with rage....
